Real Estate Council of Ontario
The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is a self-managed, not-for-profit corporation, responsible for administering the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 (REBBA 2002) and associated regulations on behalf of the provincial government and protecting the public interest through a fair, safe and informed marketplace.
RECO was established in 1997 as a delegated administrative authority under the Safety and Consumer Statutes Administration Act, as a result of the mutual desire of the government and the real estate industry to enhance professionalism, increase consumer protection and provide an effective, efficient and responsive regulatory framework. The Ministry of Small Business and Consumer Services continues to be responsible for the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 and associated regulations, as well as general oversight of RECO.
The administration and enforcement of the Act and its regulations are the responsibility of RECO. RECO administers the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 in accordance with the terms of the Administrative Agreement between the Ministry of Small Business and Consumer Services and RECO.

Ontario Real Estate Association
OREA's Mission:
To represent its members and to provide a professional environment for members to maximize business opportunities.
The Ontario Real Estate Association represents 45,000 brokers and salespeople who are members of the provinces 42 real estate boards. OREA serves its members through a wide variety of publications, educational programs and special services. The association provides all real estate licensing courses in Ontario.
OREA was founded in 1922 to organize real estate activities and develop common goals across the province. These goals included promoting higher industry standards, protecting the general public from unscrupulous brokers and salespeople, and preserving private property rights.
OREA continually strives to improve the image of REALTORS® by enhancing educational and professional standards. OREA develops and publishes standard forms, and supports educational and charitable causes through the REALTORS Care Foundation.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is CanadaâÂÂs national housing agency. Established as a government-owned corporation in 1946 to address CanadaâÂÂs post-war housing shortage, the agency has grown into a major national institution. CMHC is CanadaâÂÂs premier provider of mortgage loan insurance, mortgage-backed securities, housing policy and programs, and housing research.

Canadian Real Estate Association
The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is one of Canada's largest single-industry trade associations, representing more than 97,000 real estate Brokers/agents and salespeople working through 100 real estate Boards and Associations.
CREA's primary mission is to represent its members at the federal level of government and to act as a watchdog on national legislation that pertains to the real estate industry. CREA has frequently taken strong stands to defend the public's right to own and enjoy property.
CREA owns the MLS® trademark and has a proprietary interest in the REALTOR® trademark. The REALTOR® trademark is an assurance of integrity. It can only be used in Canada by members of The Canadian Real Estate Association who accept and respect a strict Code of Ethics. The real estate database systems operated by our member Boards and Associations under the MLS® trademark provide an ongoing inventory of available properties and ensure maximum exposure of properties listed for sale.
The Association also operates the realtor.ca and ICX.CA web sites, and the REALTOR Link® Intranet site for members across Canada
